Genesis 6:9-11:32

It took Noach about 31 years to build the boat (some say 120 and some say 31). When He was finished G-d told Noach to get two of every animal, every bird, and every bug and put it into the ark. Then G-d told Noach and His family to get into the Ark. Noach had a wife and three Sons: Shem, Ham, and Yefet. His sons had wives too. After they were all in the Ark G-d closed the door. Then the earth began to crack and the waters came up from inside the earth and then there was lightening and thunder and the heavens opened up and rain began to fall. G-d was so sad about having to hurt His creation because of the way the people treated him and each other that he started to cry. He cried for 40 days and nights—that’s how long it rained 40 days and nights. Water covered the whole earth and even was higher than the highest mountain.

Noach and his family stayed in the Ark for one year. One day HaShem sent a dove out of the Ark and it never came back—that’s how he knew that the water gone from the earth. Then HaShem opened the door and they all left the Ark with the Animals, the birds, and the bugs.

The first thing Noach did was build an Altar. The Altar was place of sacrifice and prayer. He then offered up sacrifices to G-d and made prayers thanking G-d for saving his family and all the animals.

Then G-d was so sad that all the people were gone with all the animals, birds and bugs that he told Noach that He would never destroy the earth again with a flood. And as proof of it, He put a rainbow in the sky and said, “every time I see the rainbow I will remember my promise to Noach and all the peoples of the earth that I will not destroy the earth again with a flood.”

After G-d made this promise to Noach. Noach went away from the Ark, He and his family and they began to repopulate the earth. Noach became a farmer with his family. They built homes, gathered food, and raised animals. Pretty soon Noach's family populated cities and then nations.
